Two Villas, Two Evenings — A Villa Subaglio Wedding in the Heart of Brianza

Frescoed Halls, Century-Old Gardens & a Wedding Weekend at Villa Subaglio, Merate — Anita & Jim

Some couples choose a single day. Anita and Jim chose a world. A world of centuries-old gardens, frescoed halls, and two distinct venues set in the quiet elegance of Brianza — the kind of landscape that sits just far enough from Milan to feel entirely removed from it.

The weekend began at Villa Galimberti, a neoclassical estate built in 1780 between Monza and Lecco, where the welcome party unfolded with the ease of an evening among close friends.

Catering by Tassino and live music by Francesco Gervasoni set a tone that was warm, considered, and entirely unhurried — the right opening note for what was to come.

The wedding day itself moved to Villa Subaglio, a majestic 17th-century residence in Merate, in the province of Lecco. With over a kilometer of entrance avenue lined by centuries-old trees, an Italian garden with statues and fountains, and five frescoed reception halls of extraordinary scale, Villa Subaglio is one of the most architecturally distinctive wedding venues in Northern Italy.

For Anita, arriving from Poland, and Jim, from the United States — both now calling Abu Dhabi home — it offered something they had been looking for: a venue with depth, with history, and with a presence that needed no embellishment.

The day was shaped by a team assembled with precision. Catering by Lanzarotti, florals by Alice Flower Stylist, and music across the evening by Artmusica Eventi, Fuat Sunay on jazz, and lighting by Victor Music Lights. Makeup by Io Amo il Mio Parrucchiere, rentals by Integrarent, and the day captured on video by Wedding Movie Team.

A Villa Subaglio wedding asks its guests to slow down — to move through its gardens, its loggia, its candlelit halls — and simply be present. For a couple who live between continents and chose Italy as the place to gather the people they love most, that quality of stillness was precisely the point. Photography by George Novac.
